5 Cleaning Tips to Sell Your Home Faster

Selling a home may involve a lot of steps, but one of the most important is making sure the home is *sparkling* clean for potential homebuyers to move in. When listing your home with us, we offer a free home cleaning with a professional cleaning service. However, there are still some steps to take to ensure your home looks and feels brand new. Homebuyers want a great experience walking through your home, as if they can imagine themselves living in the space.

To help you get started, here is a list of 5 home cleaning tips:

1. Declutter, depersonalize, and organize

Before putting your home on the market, make sure to keep only the essentials. Not only will your home feel bigger and cleaner, but it will also quicken the process of moving out once the home is sold. In addition, removing any personal items, such as family photos, mementos, collectibles, better allows potential buyers to envision themselves in your home.

2. Make a grand entrance to the home

As it is with most things, a strong first impression means everything. Same goes with your home. Consider possibly replacing or even painting the front door to liven up the entrance. If you have shutters, paint them a matching color to compliment the door to pull it all together and feel more inviting. Clean and polish any door knobs and fixtures. Dress up the entry with seasonal decorations, such as potted plants, pumpkins, or a wreath, depending on the season of course. People are naturally attracted to symmetry, so placing accents on both sides of the door can do wonders.

3. Maintain the yard

Simple landscaping renovations can have a major effect on curb appeal and keeping the exterior just as attractive as the interior. Your goal is to have home buyers wanting to come inside and look at your home. Start by mowing the lawn, weeding the flowerbeds, pruning the bushes, raking leaves, removing snow, etc.

Some inexpensive ways to help with the exterior of your home is to plant small flowers in the yard to help add a pop of color. Or, if possible, install lighting around the exterior to help illuminate key landscaping features.

4. Let in ALL the natural light

Natural light is the cheapest, yet most rewarding thing you can let in your home. A room filled with light will feel warmer, inviting, and even bigger than it really is. (BONUS!) Open all blinds and curtains before photography and home tours, allowing the room to look airy and bright. Before doing so, make sure to wash the windows inside and out.

5. Apply a fresh coat of paint

Painting, both the inside and/or outside, can dramatically improve its appearance and give it a fresh and clean feel. Neutral colors such as white, beige, grays, appeal to the widest audience. These colors will go with any furniture and will help lighten the room (especially with the natural light). Follow

These little changes can make a huge difference, making the buyers feel as though less renovation is needed when it comes to move-in time.
